I paid $1600 for my powerbook, and given the choice of this for free or mine for full price, I'd stick with mine.

Ads that suck the time out of your life get on my nerves too. "Please sit there while we stuff your brain of subliminal message 30 seconds at a time" is indeed revolting.
However, etching other people's logo on the cover of my laptop in order to get it for free is indeed a clever scheme. Especially when the list of companies ponying the money is not half bad.
This is closely related to the million dollar web page (and copycats). I wonder how popular this scheme will be.
This makes me think, I would not mind a new car...
