The Russians developed a variant of this known as the FotoSnaper(PhotoSniper) Which consisted of a Zenit SLR and a Tair 300mm telephoto lens on a rifle stock:

The rifle stock stabilizes the strong telephoto lens and has a easy trigger based shutter.
