"The bent genny' part 3, This section covers a PicAxe 08M data logger that interfaces to a PC via RS-232 and uploads the performance characteristics of the generator in real-time. As well as some priliminary results between "Star & Delta" 3-phase configurations of the stator." - Link.

couldn't he gear it up like a bike to lower the RPM for a specific wattage? Or would that not work?

The unit is geared to offer a reasonable cadance (pedal stride), but standard bike gearing is too low, if you check Part #2 it shows a Jack-Shaft being added to achieve a 1:6 ratio relative to the pedal cranks.

Are you the same Frank that runs metalshop.ca? If so, would it be at all possible, given what you have on hand, to post a very brief video of the generator spinning at a certain RPM (say 80) on the pedaling end?

I'm just curious to see how fast it gets going.

At 80 RPM @ the cranks it would be 480 @ the rotor which equates to 50watts or so (going by the last graph as a Delta config...)

Sorry no video... If I was set-up for that I'd just drop the webpages and post builds...
