Cool. Most road signs where I'm from are ~.1" 6061 Al, and make great workshop counters.. but I usually use them sign-side-down.

For more recycled street-sign made stuff, check out this building in Berkeley, CA http://lwarc.com/dwight1.html which has fences and other parts made of street signs (and features lots of other recycled stuff like a gate made of Volvo wagon hatchbacks and awnings made of Porsche 924 hatchbacks).
