2. Obtain ROM-files
3. Figure out how to capture every frame
4. Merge frames
5. ?
6. Profit

I'm set as soon as I figure out step 3 on Linux.

Ah. Seems that xmame can save a game as MNG movie
and "AdvanceCOMP MNG Compression Utility" can extract the frames as PNG files.
