Woot. These would make great desktop backgrounds. If only they were bigger/at a standard aspect ratio.

I'm not the obsessive-compulsive type at all, with but one exception: I have a mild aversion to stirring my coffee after adding milk. Weird, huh? I think it's because the patterns formed when the milk mixes by itself are quite beautiful, in a very natural/fractal way. Like the Mystery of the Universe right there in the cup. Stirring 'corrupts' that beauty into a dull drab. No difference in flavor though - it's a purely aesthetic reaction.

Of course, that's a different kind of visual than the pictures here - those also are quite lovely.

I know these pictures have gone viral over the past couple of days, but the actual photographer would prefer if you change the links to direct people to her own site, deleting what you've got there. Those sites didn't ask permission or credit her in any way.

She's quite generous about allowing usage, as long as people give credit where it is due. And it is certainly due for these amazing images, which you can purchase as prints here:

Thanks raincoaster.

Here is the mail I've just sent to the makezine publisher, Mr. Dale Dougherty:

Dear Mr. Dougherty,

On your Makezine site, you are using a coffee/milk image of mine without my permission or credit to me, the legally rightful owner of the image.

You are, in fact, linking from my image to a site (yousaytoo) which also stole my images and are also presenting them without any due credit to me.

If you want to present any of my images, please credit me as the owner and rectify the link to my site, which is

www.pbase.com/daria90

If you do not intend to change the link and credit me, then please remove my image (images) from your site immediately.

Irene Müller
