
This "Hobbyhorse" from Popular Science 1936 reminds me of those new fangled springy bicycle/scooters I've seen advertised around, might be a good (re)make - Link.

The first thing I looked for was some sort of gearing. With that, of course, comes some sort of protection from pinched fingers. I thought the tail might be a protective cover for some gear.
But, sometimes simple is best. And a tail is just decorative.
