I found this link yesterday and spent a good amount of time trying to find a source for PVC gel. Any ideas? Heck, I couldn't even find out for sure what it is...

You probably should ask in the forum, in the header of this page, "Furums/Community" A lot of makers are willing to share their knowledge. I can only tell praise about it.
