And here's an interesting link sent in to us by a Make reader - it seems that the creator of Mother's Day really just wanted us to stop wasting money... After the inception of Mother's Day (1914) Anna Jarvis, the creator said -
I wanted [Mother's Day] to be a day of sentiment, not profit.A printed card means nothing except that you are too lazy to write to the woman who has done more for you than anyone in the world.
And candy! You take a box to Mother -- and then eat most of it yourself. A pretty sentiment.
What will you do to route charlatans, bandits, pirates, racketeers, kidnappers and other termites that would undermine with their greed one of the finest, noblest and truest movements and celebrations?
