Here ya go - Apple's Safari browser for PC (XP/Vista) is now on Apple's site - smart idea from Apple, half a billion iTunes downloads, add in a browser and attract more folks to do more Appley things. The Beta 3 is also available for Mac... Link.

Why couldn't they port something that would actually be useful - like iChat? Why waste so much developer time on porting something that enters a pretty crowded market? Why would anyone choose Safari over the much-more-extensible Firefox? Man, WWDC was pretty underwhelming.

i get it, but i don't get it. it's supposed to be fast, but it feels slow. i use it all the time on my mac, but i don't like it on the pc, so far. how do i turn off font smoothing? you can only select low, medium, high. ugh.
i can see the strategic advantages of porting WebKit to the PC, but i don't see them getting much marketshare here. it's not like we are living in a pre-Firefox world anymore.

It's almost certainly for iPhone development. The smaller iPhone applets are developed almost identically to Dashboard widgets, and previewing/testing in Safari used to be a major part of widget development.
It might also be a branding thing, and to provide a desktop browser that's almost identical to the iPhone's.

It seems downright sluggish on my PC, but I'm not a fan of safari anyway. I prefer the scriptability of firefox and to some extent camino. I think I'm gonna kinda ignore this one. Overall, WWDC was disappointing this year. Leopard looks cool though, especially with the fancy semi-trans finder bar.
