The floppy drive doesn't appear to be operational.

mac mini's obviously don't have a floppy drive, and the slop was probably too small and too low to use for the optical drive. i'm pretty sure he cut out the supports on one of the vents in front to use for the slot fed CD drive, which is a pretty neat way of doing it.
What i can't understand for the life of me is why he didn't just hack in a color LCD while s/he was at it. it would've cut down on weight considerably, and s/he would've had a lot more empty space to do other things with! sure anything smaller then 15" is a little hard to come by, but it can be done. i wonder what the dimensions are on the screen. if s/he still wanted B&W he could've done it through software.
still though, an awesome mod! I wish that i knew enough japanese to send him some fan mail.

Nice. Perhaps a USB connector or a flash card slot where the floppy was to reflect the modern-day equivalents.
