A long-reach limb pruner from This Old House Magazine. Basically a chain saw blade attached to a rope, you throw one end of the device over a branch, line the chain up with the wood, and start sawing. Without the ability to make an undercut on the limb being cut, using this saw will likely result in a long length of bark being stripped off the trunk as the limb falls to the ground.
