In doing research for my possible Flying Spaghetti Monster costume, besides Lenore and Windell's FSM headdress, most full-body FSM costumes I've seen look more like pasta barf than Spaghetti Monster. If you search on Flickr, you'll find dozens of examples. The best full-body costume I've seen so far is this one, sent from Dave Gray, posted in our Comments section. The meatballs under the arms are a nice touch. And for anyone who knows the FSM mythos, the pirate companion is the perfect accoutrement.

Could we ease back just a little on the FSM promotion at MAKE? I don't believe that intelligent design should be taught in schools as science either, but I find the whole "making light of other people's beliefs" thing a little abrasive, if not childish (not the good kind). Promoting the maker spirit while making fun of those who believe in a "Maker" is a little hypocritical.
And no, this isn't a veiled attempt to get more Jesus-centered DIY projects on MAKE... although... I mean the man *was* a carpenter... hmmm...

I don't see any reason to "ease back" on coverage of any type of costume. Halloween costuming (especially of the adult type) is a time for parody, having fun, making fun, pushing the envelope of good taste, etc. It is a ritual of all these things, and an important one, as far I'm concerned. In my years of going to costume parties, I've seen people dressed as Buddhas, swamis, yogis, Jesus, the pope, nuns, monks, shaman, witches, Scientologists, and nearly every other religions figure or role. I see no reason why the Flying Spaghetti Monster should be excluded from this cast of characters. And me posting links to costumes in no way constitutes a "promotion" of FSM by MAKE, any more than posting a link to a vampire costume is a MAKE promotion of bloodsucking.
