    Hmmm. The lid on a toilet tank doesn’t really do anything, other than keep the cats from getting a drink. It’d work just fine, with a few circles of caulking to hold the coffee in place. Might not look as fancy…

    This will actually make your radiators a lot less efficient by blocking convective air flow over the blades.

    Probably the neatest take on ambient radiator heat I saw was in home built around the 1920-30s.

    The radiator had a “cut out” on the top where there was a bread box sized tin box with a door on it and a dial thermometer. The idea was you could bring your dinner to the table but keep it warm on the radiator while you ate.
