Wouldn't it be nice if postings on Make included links to what they are referring to?

Yow. It's nice that there's these modules and a base and such, but .... I could buy a Nokia N810 for much less money, get an ARM processor, touchscreen LCD, GPS, and camera. It doesn't have the accellerometers, true, but it does have Bluetooth, and the Nintendo Wiimote has accellerometers.
I wish them the best of success, but at those prices, I fear that they will have none.

Russell -- that's probably the same line of "reasoning" people used when guys hot-rodded their cars in the '60s and '70s. And heck, you can get a computer from Dell for about $400, so why build your own?
Make: is for people who like to tinker, and the Bugs aren't intended to replace an off-the-shelf product, but to encourage creativity. Can you replace the GPS module in your N810 when Gallileo comes on-line? What about putting a new camera in there when the price per pixel make it cost-effective? Can you double the size of the screen if you want to? Can you write your own apps with Nokia's blessing?

@James: actually the answer to most of these questions is "yes". People who really like to tinker can tinker with most anything.
Yawn.
