LED art all over Boston today

This is interesting - it seems that a group of artists have celebrated 1-31-07 in their own way and have created a series of political themed LED art sculptures and (you guessed it) placed them all over Boston. Pictured here, Bush & Bin Laden... Click on through to see more images and if you're in Boston the locations are listed to go on an art tour. Get there before the robots do.

It's the 31st of January
The Boston Bomb Scare

They answered with "70s hair"

The guys who started the whole ruckus, Peter and Sean, are back to celebrate, too:

Boston band Destroy Babylon released a single today celebrating Aqua-Gate, entitled "This is Not a Bomb". Artwork features a crazy Fat Fink version of Ignignokt.

Oh my, 1 year have past since we saw how idiotic a state government was. hahahaha. Why is that there's no one post some signs saying "LED not IED"?

Posted by: Hehe on January 31, 2008 at 2:32 PM

Just wait for the real bombs that say:

"This is not a bomb. Its just for the lulz".

Posted by: The Oracle on January 31, 2008 at 2:48 PM

Hehe,
If that happens, all the blame goes to the Boston police for their idiocy last year.

Posted by: LoserPosterLikeYou on January 31, 2008 at 3:26 PM

I wonder if The Oracle is from Boston rides the subway like I do. If not, isn't it kind of lame to comment on something he was no part of? Or maybe he's right - nerds who like cartoons about French Fries should be allowed their freedom of expression. I mean freedom to be a pale unwashed dork.

@LoserPosterLikeYou:

Just because you fell for the terror-hype does not mean the Bostonian reaction was not stupid. I, for one, hope that your city is invaded by LED caricatures for years to come.

Grow up. Art is resistance. Hack the planet.

re: hehe at 2:32 PM, who foolishly said
"Just wait for the real bombs that say:

"This is not a bomb. Its just for the lulz".

Or, just wait for the real bombs that are:
disguised to look like rubbish, trash cans, fast food bags, locked bikes, old newspapers...

I could go on, but I hope you're not too much of an idiot to miss the point. Do you understand the concept of "security theater"?

I hate to burst your bubble, but if someone has explosives, and wants to use them, they will, and at that point there is very little that can be done about it.

Unless you're prepared for everyone to walk around naked all the time, carry only transparent bags, and have no non-permanent objects of any kind on the street anywhere, ever, shut up with the knee-jerk "you'd have been sorry if it was a real bomb" crap.
The ends do not justify the means, especially in retrospect.
What do you think is ultimately going to do more damage in the aggregate, including wasted money, not to mention making everyone live in a constant state of either fear or desensitization? A few pipe bombs, or shutting the entire city down anytime someone doesn't recognize some blinking lights? Oh, wait, they weren't even bombs. but there were some pipe bombs tha tsame week, and they didn;t shut the city down. hmmm.

If you think something is a bomb, check it out before you bring the city to a halt.

@LoserPosterLikeYou:

It's a Lite-Brite, buddy. Seriously. If you saw your six year old playing with one on the lawn, would you start calling the FBI?

Don't let the fear own you, or you've lost already.

@Doesn't matter

Perhaps you stop, gather your thoughts together, and get yourself some perspective next time.

You're speaking as if terrorism were a constant threat, with bombs going off in major cities at such a rate that fear and paranoia might possibly be a rational response.

Stop hyperventilating with your imaginary fears, look around yourself, and quit being such a damn coward.

America would still be a strong, brave, and free nation if it weren't for sniveling primates like yourself who can't rid themselves of our freedoms fast enough so that they can, barely, imagine themselves slightly safer.

vandals. The bomb threat was idiotic, but those guys a year ago did break the law. They vandalized public and private property with corporate advertising to make a quick buck.

Now, a year later, to celebrate, some other break the law again. If you want to protest, please do so in a legal fashion. We don't need more vandalism in Boston, no matter how clever the vandals think it is.

Posted by: Ghandi on February 1, 2008 at 5:58 AM

It's important not to break the law when you protest.

Posted by: Primate on February 1, 2008 at 6:22 AM

It's important to break the law whenever the law is stupid and you can get away with it.

Posted by: lol @ Boston on February 1, 2008 at 6:34 AM

Boston is such a horrible city, I'd rather them break off from America before the entire state California.

In fact, most of New England can.

@Peter, Re: Vandals

Those crazy Bostonians and their crimes.

What will they do next, throw tea in the harbor?

Posted by: LoserPosterLikeYou on February 1, 2008 at 3:49 PM

Whoa, for a minute there I thought someone from California made fun of Boston about sliding off from America. Isn't it the other way around? I mean, when the next Big One pushes ol' Cali off the map it'll be great. You can go to Vegas and hit the beach in the morning and gamble at night.

I'm fairly sure, for all you "just wait till it's a real bomb" hippies, that a real bomb will not be covered in LED's advertising itself.
