I just finished making the excellent "Never forget 1-31-07 memorial kit" from Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories - they did a great job on this unique and fun LED art panel. Complete photo set of the kit here - Link & more details on the kit.

So it seems all information about this kit has been removed since it is no longer for sale. So i ask:

what is the microcontroller for?
how about all the transistors?
is each led addressable?

I wondered the same thing, but I figure there aren't enough I/O lines on the Atmel, and there are no other expander chips. Thus, they are probably just multiplexing each row.
