This Mic Preamp may be of interest too. It offers a much simpler approach. I haven't heard it in action, but I would assume it would have limitations, given it's tiny-ness.

If you're intersted to hear an audio demo, check this out. The above SC-1 Preamp USED ON EVERYTHING!!! Drums, overheads, rhythm and lead guitars, and bass.

I have put together the kit and used this preamp. The kit was well laid out and easy to assemble. The preamp has a thick midrange, smooth high end and solid low end. It fits in well with the high end preamps in my studio. It has become my preamp of choice for acoustic guitars and bass.

Dear Dave; Why would you be talking about this other preamp on a page for the sc-1? The two preamps aren't even in the same league or intended for the same purpose.
The SC-1 is a preamp that you would find in a recording studio, the one you mention would be found hooked to the PA system at a Walmart to alert customers that the building is on fire.
Once you add in the fact that you haven't heard either of them, your comments are useless.

I'm an idiot, farview is right. How do I know who farview is? that is for you to find out. I know where you live aswell, outside of Chicago (and yes I am a member of studio-central forums)But you will never know.
