DIY Door bell privacy

md_privacy.jpg
Having the doorbell ring just when you fell asleep, after your all-night soldering frenzy, can be a real annoyance. This simple project will allow you to turn off the buzzer or bell for 10 hours, allowing for a nice long nap. - Link

Cool. Now do you have something to remind me to activate this because if I'm that tired I will surely forget and/or I won't hear the doorbell anyway.

Good job Marc. I never got around to putting ours on an automatic schedule like you - opting to use a toggle switch instead. The neighbor kids would continue to ring the doorbell after my son told them he had to stay in to do his homework (kids will be kids). Initially he just unscrewed the wires from the bell, but a toggle switch made the process easier. I toyed with the idea of using a 555 to shut it off for two hours but never got around to it. Obviously your need was much greater, and you don't have to remember to set it again the next day.

@ehrichweiss
According to the website this activated on a daily schedule. It would be good for people who work a 2nd or 3rd shift.

@DingDong,
The credit for this hack goes to Richard Cappels
