Member 007Ben put together a digital photo frame which displays RSS feeds against custom backgrounds. A great use for that old laptop now deemed too slow for active use. Now commenters on Flickr are all asking for a copy of the script he's using with it. -Link

I made a version using

flickr/webshots desktop wallpaper switcher
Yahoo widgets
*digital clock at 70% transparency, centered on the screen in really big font.
*A 5-day weather forecast in upper left
*A RSS ticker tape along the bottom.

It runs on a sub 300mhz laptop with a stripped down version of XP with 64MB of RAM! It only uses swap when it has to update the wallpaper (once an hour)
