Believe it or not, I met a co-inventor (Robert Cailliau) of the WWW today. He went to my school when he was young. He explained the history of the WWW, but I have to tell it was pretty boring, but still important!

Ah, the memories.. I worked at this machine once, albeit briefly.
Well, while Tim did most of the exciting development stuff, it was Robert who did the political work, lobbying, organized conferences, and made sure the World-Wide Web did not fracture into a myriad incompatible proprietary solutions. Without Robert, we would not be were we are today, we'd probably be stuck with propriertory, non-free MSN, AOL, and Compuserve type of services.
Unlike Sir Tim, most of the early day developers did not get much recognition. A big warm thanks to all of you!
