Canal street plastics is next up on my list of places for makers in NYC, this place seems to have been here forever as stocks every type of acrylic known to humankind.

Their prices aren’t (usually) cheaper than getting things from McMaster Carr, but I’ve visited Canal street plastics for specialty items and last minute sheets for laser etching/cutting many many times – more photos here, Flickr.

Those chrome semi-spheres in the last picture would be great for making a Sputnik replica! (Something iv been meaning to do for a while!)

    Hurrah for Canal Plastics, indeed!

Anyone remember the similar place that was a couple of blocks away that closed? (I hope this place *stays* forever, though not necessarily hopeful…)

The similar place a couple blocks away was Industrial Plastics – I was there for their very last day! http://www.flickr.com/photos/ranjit/sets/235782/
