Glow-in-the-dark gravel

Picture 4.png

The Dutch company S. Lövenstein BV has added that lovely glow-in-the-dark substance to composite flooring, thus creating an embedded emergency lighting solution. Sure, the stuff fades eventually, but takes a lot of complexity out of backup lighting solutions. What applications can you think of? Via Cool Hunting.

This seems like something our friends at the Graffiti Research Lab could have fun with. Coat some gravel in clear glow in the dark paint, spread it around in patterns, wait until night.

You can embed UV led's to keep them pumped up for days.

Granted you could use translucent material and LEDs but who doesn't like green glowing emergency lighting?

The new strontium aluminate pigments are nothing like those used in the glow-in-the-dark cereal box toys you had growing up. They are bright and last a long time.

I have a bottle of glow-in-the-dark paint sitting on my desk charged by ambient room light during the day. In the morning when I wake up, it's still glowing.
