Leatherman Skeletool mini-review

skeletool.jpg

For those leathermen(and women) out there - The leatherman tool company has released a new slimmed down multitool product, clocking in at a little over 5 ounces. Rain Day magazine shares their hands-on impressions:

The Leatherman Skeletool is a minimalist's multi-tool. It has a pair of plier, a blade, wire cutters, bit driver, and a bottle opener. It is made of aluminium and stainless steel. Weight have been strategically removed from the structural components such that strength has not been compromised.
The bare necessities as they see it. Personally, I wouldn't consider it complete without a wire stripper in there. - Link

They do have wire cutters, which is perfectly usable as a quick and dirty stripper.

I like the way it looks, much better aesthetically than the regular Leatherman. And the handle looks like it's more comfortable.

But do I wait for the CX to get the combination blade?

It does have a wire stripper.. If you look at the big picture (the one with the ad or owner's guide in the background) on that page and look at the ad picture, you can see a notch at the base of the wire cutter inside the pliers. That notch is for stripping wire.

Nice thing, but 130 Dollars here in Germany are a rediciulos price for a pair of pliers, a knife and a srewdriver.

You are absolutely right. $150,000 U$D is a ridiculous amount to pay for a Porsche when >fill in the blank< will do just fine.

Both the Skeletool and the Porsche are worth it!

Why no locking pliers? "Visegrip" type pliers are the general tool I find most useful after screwdrivers.
