Superficielle – forest mirrors

Via Notcot, Michel de Broin’s – Superficielle – mirrors in the forest have an alien-like effect…

Mirror, glue, cement / Vosges, Alsace, France – Upon invitation to reflect on the notion of transparency, that led me into the forest to envelop the contour of a large stone with fragments of mirror. The large stone, tucked away deep in the woods, became a reflective surface for its surroundings. In this play of splintered radiance, the rock disappears in its reflections. Because it reflects one cannot be mislead by its presence, yet we cannot seize it, rather it is the rock that reflects us.

Looks like a scene from the movie ‘Predator’.

Between people who write artists’ statements and people who write perfume commercials, I can’t decide who to strangle first.

  3. phy5ics says:

It is scary to think how many dead birds will pile up at the base of this installation from collisions since they will be fatally “mislead by its presence”. However depressing, that makes it the perfect statement about the natural world and how it “reflects us”.

  4. Jake says:

Were there mushrooms in said forest?

  5. Dumb Art says:

    Beer bottles start forest fires,

    mirrors are much more effective.
