Build your own electric guitar

Here is a nice instructable about making your own electric guitar. Actually, it is about making the body of an electric guitar, and attaching a ready-made neck and electronics. This instructable is really well documented and there are a lot of pictures and descriptions.

More like "learn how to build a guitar body and assemble an instrument from other parts you purchase."

I wouldn't recommend routing the entire body out of the blank though. Try sawing it out with a jigsaw/band saw first, leaving the line of course, then using the router and template to clean up the edges. Makes the process a little faster and puts less wear on your router bit, which is usually a little more expensive than a saw blade.

well, normally I'm all for drawing attention to double posts and inaccurate titles, but I did notice:

"Actually, it is about making the body of an electric guitar, and attaching a ready-made neck and electronics. "

was there at 8am Eastern when I first saw it, because I had the same opinion of the potential mistitle, and I thought this was a good CYA.

( though PT got the doublepost on the flying dohickie removed before I could be post #2...)

Pretty sure the times listed are Pacific time zone..so it was there. Will see in a minute, as it is 6:41pm Eastern now...lets see...
