Yuri's Night - Bay Area

Here's a fun event for SF Bay area makers -
This year the San Francisco Bay Area will be home to the largest Yuri's Night celebration ever. At the NASA Ames Research Center over 8,000 people will join astronauts, artists, musicians, scientists and engineers to learn, celebrate, and pay tribute to our global space heritage; and to celebrate the anniversaries of the first human spaceflight and the first space shuttle mission. Yuri's Night Bay Area 2008 is a one-of-a-kind local community event: a perfect fusion of celebration and tribute, technology expo, art exhibition, and music festival; all rolled into one.Yuri's Night Bay AreaParticipants can expect a 12-hour menagerie of creative content ranging from visual, performance and installation art to NASA robots and space hardware, science demos, and show-and-tell from local DIY-ers. With music headlined by Amon Tobin, a 1-hour aerial demonstration, talks by Will Wright, Jaron Lanier and Saul Griffith, and opportunities for casual and facilitated discussions throughout the day, Yuri's Night Bay Area challenges us to relate space exploration to who we are, and where we are going. Join us in celebrating those first steps into the future, and help to define what the next steps look like.
