An evening at Maker Faire - NYC event

Last night at the Saatchi & Saatchi Gallery we held an event called "An Evening at Maker Faire" which brought together dozens of NY makers to exhibit their creative projects for one fun and festive evening. On display were be cutting-edge DIY projects based around robotics, electronics, new music, alternative crafts, and interactive art. The editors of Make and Craft Magazine were joined by the Institute for the Future, who presented their map of the Future of Making, and their forecasts about the impact of "Making" on our daily lives.

Special thanks to everyone who attended, the makers who brought their projects and the city of New York! (Yes, we're exploring a Maker Faire NYC by popular demand!)
Here is some coverage from around the web and some video/photos from us too!

Collin actually did this for 3 hours straight, a new record!

I always find out about Make events late and miss them. When was this announced? YOU NEED A MAILING LIST! Please "make" one so everyone can attend. I'm annoyed now. I check your site all the time and didn't see this mentioned nor did my co-worker who also goes to your site. Very disappointing.
Your comment system is broken btw. I tried logging in and commenting and it told me "wrong text entered" twice

@Chutzpah & matt - this wasn't an announced event, based on capacity we needed to go invite-only and we exceed 500 doing that :(
don't worry, we're trying out best to do something big in NYC and there will a lot of posts about it if/when that happens.

I too was wondering why I had not heard of this event. I check your blog every day, and was like "what?!"
Private invite only? hmm what's going on in the secret back room maker events? World domination plans?!
For what it's worth, I too continue to have occasional problems with the comments. The only way I've found to solve it is to log out each time I want to comment, then log back in (which is a pain).

We're not worthy! We're not worthy! ;)
Maker Faire NYC would be incredible, just don't have it at the Jacob Javits Center :D
