Here's an awesome DIY lighting system for you. This guy set up a wicked system that can be controlled by the colors displayed on his TV (similar to Phillip's Ambilight) or by controlling it with his BlackBerry. He used an LED-Wiz controller to control various RBG LED displays thorough the room. He also noted the flickering in the video is not as visible in real life.

Nice result, but he should get ride off the flickering between colors.
Kind of distracting and may be annoying over time.
