I remember that it broke in half (well, that I *heard* it broke in half, I wasn't actually there), but not which part went down in what direction. I found an animation (http://www.cite-sciences.fr/english/ala_cite/expo/tempo/titanic/naufrage/sinking-animation.html) and you're right, thanks.
