I left my Death Star in San Francisco

Here's a really cool short video, done by Star Wars fan Michael Horn, of various Star Wars vehicles participating in "Imperial Fleet Week" in San Francisco. Horn says he "shot everything on my junkie DV camera, did motion-tracking and comping in After Effects, and basic sound design in Final Cut."

MAKE pal Bonnie Burton did a brief interview with Horn on The Official Star Wars Blog.

Wow

I can enthusiastically say that's one of the coolest little videos I've seen. I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, but this was very well done.

I love the fact that because the things don't actually exist in real life, everyone in the video appears to be completely comfortable with huge spaceships and aircraft and such flying/walking among them, as if it's normal life.

I rather wish it was!

What a shame that this fan-created video is cooler and more interesting than everything done in the Star Wars universe for the last 20 years combined.
