My thoughts exactly.

Anybody up for putting together an online compendium/encyclopedia of linkages? I'm thinking diagrams, animations, applications, clips of projects, and construction notes.

That might be possible, I've made http://www.elehack.com a wiki-type site. I'll add a "Book" for LEGO stuff, and a sub-book for Linkages.
