This cellphone case mod sheds the phone's usual plastic exterior and replaces it with wood for a more angular and natural look.

really?

This might be the lamest Make I've ever seen..... I guess the website's called Wank for a reason?

natural?

Baltic Birch Plywood is a more natural look? Huh, I would not have guessed this was the cell phone's natural look, nor would I have guessed that a laminated wood product would be considered natural (then again I don't shop at pottery barn and don't consider MDF to be natural wood material either).

Oh and I agree with gear head on the level of execution here as well - leaves a bit to be desired.

Finish the wood.

To prevent splinter the manufacturer should have sanded and applied three coats of polyurethane.
