RSSMake pal Mad Maxine sent me this video of musician T.J. Hill playing his electric musical saw - a 26" Stanley hand saw with a contact mic, run through his guitar effects and amped to 11, I believe.

Sounds good, you can also play these with a proper violin bow so you don't get the knocking sound when you hit it.
I reckon the American national anthem would sound good on it, almost Hendrix style.
For anyone else who wishes to play a saw, you can do it acoustically too but to get any noise from it you have to keep it bent in an "S" shape. The angles at each end change the note of the saw as you play it.
