Musician/producer Pete Drake performs his song "Forever" with his steel guitar through a classic talkbox. A surreal and beautiful performance - the talkbox in use here is cool in and of itself!
The freestanding design with handle is inspiring and simple talkboxes are pretty easy to make. [via Boing Boing]

The most amusing thing about the video is the girl on the bench beside the guitarist, who is obviously there as eye candy, since she seems unable to sway or clap in time.
But, I'm more of a Peter Frampton vintage than Peter Drake!

Boy, this is really shaking up the synapses, but I could swear that clip is from WLW-T's "Midwestern Hayride" program from the late-50's-early-60's. I would have been maybe 4 years old at the time.
I remember the talking guitar, but that was when I used to look in the holes on the masonite back of the radio to try and see the little musicians inside, so technology went right over my head. I KNEW they were there, I could see the lights on their music stands!

This is the coolest thing ever! I linked to it on my blog at http://iheartguitar.blogspot.com/2008/11/gear-make-your-own-talkbox.html ...and as a massive guitar geek I might just have to make my own talkbox one of these days.
