Ok people, you assume things too quickly. Who said the squirrel was hunted down and killed? Who said it was trapped and died painfully?
It could have been road kill, owl kill, hawk kill, or believe it or not, died of plain old age.
My personal opinion is a resounding WHY feet at all, seems strange to me, but to each their own.
Yeah, there are little squirrel carcasses all over the roads in the fall, they’re busy looking for winter food and not paying attention to traffic, so I don’t think you need to kill any to get feet. Personally, I love squirrels, even though they destroy my jack-o-lanterns every year and smear pumpkin bits all over my porch.

Squirrels are a nuciance, please kill them. Eau Claire cemetary veterans marker flags all gone… up in a tree as squirrel nests! Get into your attic, boat, RV, garrage and chew/nest and reek havoc. Seen attic wires chewn to the copper! They shuck the shells of walnuts around my hot tub and it’s like walking on broken glass… seen $400 spa covers destroyed. My small garden of corn & sunflowers DOWN IN ONE DAY! Garbage bags torn into. Grrrrr Put their heads on a platter! (or ear rings)

Um… these just aren’t attractive to me at all. For those of to who it is… okay, I guess. Why not make puppy-feet earrings? Or kitten-head jewelery? Is there really a difference? I had pet squirrels once, so I don’t want to hear “well, that’s different, squirrels aren’t pets”. Animals are animals. To most people, their pets are just as much people as they are. Hey, while you’re at it, if you happen to find some random dead guy in the street, why not start cutting off body parts, sticking them in chemicals to stop the decomposition, then make jewelery out of that? Then you can have some wierd steampunk goth jack-the-ripper character!
