Street crossing lines turned into memorial

Craft & Design

The “Zebra Crossing Memorial” was an urban street art hack designed in a similar way to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in WDC. Hundreds of names of people that were killed by cars were stenciled in the streets of Portugal. Check out the video to see the entire process unfold.

I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not… If you’re trying to avoid people being hit by cars, don’t you want to encourage them to _watch for cars_ instead of looking at their feet?!

The names are a good idea – why not use them on the curbs, so while pedestrians are waiting to cross they can read them, instead of while they are crossing!

no kidding. I saw lots of pedestrians NOT paying attention while crossing and no change in the way cars were driving. incredibly bad idea.
