RSSCheck out this "moving forest" installation in Amsterdam:
'Moving Forest' is NL Architects' answer to the lack of green in contemporary urban environments. One might occasionally find a carefully designed patch of plants or shrubbery there, but nothing like the majestic parks and shady trees that can be found in historical city centres. So they designed a park on wheels, with trees in shopping carts. Around a small street bench, the public can rearrange their own little park and thus create a nice green view and a bit of shade.
Via Matt Mechtley, who writes, "I see high potential for something like this combined with a flash mob. Move the whole forest across town!"
I'm finding myself increasingly frustrated with the amount of 'performance art' posted here as real maker projects.
I want to see stuff that DOES something and took some actually thought to MAKE. Sticking trees in shopping carts so people can push them around, while interesting artistically, is not what I look for in a Make Magazine blog.
Now, make these carts computerized and motorized so they automatically seek the sun... THAT would be a little bit better. Still really useless and arty, but better.
Find a way to take old shopping carts, recycle them into useful products that decrease the size of landfills while improving urban life on a permanant basis... THAT would be cool.
I'd rather see less posts that are of better quality, than more posts of performance art.

I have to partially agree with screaminscott, I have a higher tolerance for art per se, but it does seem like the make blog is losing focus. Rather than have a lot of posts (some of which lately, I have to agree, are sorta marginal) I'd rather see less frequent posts that are more focused on actual maker type projects.
Creativity used to accomplish something besides "pretty" would be a good criteria to start with.
