Maker Profile – Bicycle Rodeo

Bikes Fun & Games

Introducing Cyclecide, an inventive band of Bay Area performance artists who make creations out of materials from the junkyard. These Makers create everything from amusement park rides to outrageous bicycle contraptions to found-object sculpture. Plus, we take a historical spin through the origins of the modern bicycle. Cyclecide is one of my favorite things to see at Maker Faire. They are a great group of…..? Well, as they put it, “alter-bike mechanics, mariachi-punk musicians and psychotic clowns who love bikes, beer and building stuff”. I couldn’t have put it better myself.

    Maketelevision arrives today! Awesome!
I offer these comments with the hopes of ‘constructive crit’…
    1) I was confused with the makezine.tv site. I kept looking for the “full episode”. Then I realized (i think) that you have split the episode into 4 parts? Or am I not seeing the same show that will be broadcast? I’m a little confused if I’m watching clips, outtakes, or the entire show?

    2) maybe it’s me, but vimeo is laggy! My video keeps stopping every minute or so. I’ve got dsl, and in general vimeo works. I thought if I “unclicked” the “HD ON” button that I’d get a lower (faster) experience, but instead a message popped up that said “video no longer available” with no option to go back.

    3) no way to fast forward video in vimeo? Grr.

Will these shows/clips make their way to youtube in the future?

You know I’m a fan, so I hope pointing out these little glitches doesn’t come off sounding troll like, but hopes these bugs will be worked out in the future!

    Make Rocks!

@cyenobite2 – thanks for the comments!

    1. we split them up so you can watch them all in HD, there are file size limits on vimeo, blip, youtube, etc. we also have direct downloads of the m4vs if you want to download them all. the show that you see here is what you will see on broadcast. you’re watching the entire show (minus the intro).

    2. vimeo, it’s laggy on some systems – but it’s the best player, we also have these on blip and youtube and direct downloads – one of those will work for sure for your system unless it’s a really old system, HD video is pretty intense.

    3. once the video loads in vimeo you can fast forward, you can also download the video and play it in quicktime and scrub around or even play it backwards.

    4. the clips are on youtube now.

    thanks for the kind words!

i was wondering if there’s an hd version of the podcast? i wanted to just download through itunes and have the show sync to my apple tv. the current podcast is only 480×270.

it would also be nice if it would show up as a tv show. although, i do like that the segments are split.

    thanks.
