Resistor values in Wolfram|Alpha

alphaResistor.jpg

On the HacDC mailing list, we've been having a discussion about Wolfram|Alpha and some of the amazing things it can do (and some of the controversy already surrounding it). Here 's the return on a query for resistor values.

Yubnub

If you're a yubnub user you could also find useful the command resistor. As:

resistor 4k7 -tol 5

It takes you to http://www.okaphone.nl/calc/resistor.shtml?ohm=4k7&tol=5

It also gives you the nearest standard resistor value.

There does seem to be a bit of controversy, but I am still eager to try it out.

TOS..... careful.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.... major terms of service violation here.

But not the other way

It's strange how it can find a resistor given the colours, but how do you go the other way?

I've tried "25k", "25k resistor", "25k resistor colours" but it can't work it out. I guess the wolfram programmers haven't added this kind of query yet.

re: But not the other way

You would need to search for 25k ohm resistor etc
