Roywanglu shares pics of his automated egg writer - the EggDrawer. Not a lot of info available for this one, but those are some great results from what looks to be a relatively simple setup. Check out more results in his Flickr photostream.
It appears to me that his apparatus approximates the egg as a sphere. Reminds me of the old "You might be an engineer if... you've ever approximated a horse as a sphere"
Either servo or nuts&volts did an article on this sort of bot, looks like the same design. Really nicely done, makes me yearn for when I have my machine shop set up...
