Instructables Pocket-sized contest

pocketsizedcontest.gif

The contest is big, the projects (and prizes) are pocket-sized:

Making a great small project is a fun challenge. It's about working within constraints to see how much stuff you can fit into a little tin, or creating something small enough to carry around and easily show others.

Due to popular request, we're bringing back one of our favorite contests - the Pocket-Sized Contest!

So show us something awesome and win a Leatherman Squirt P4-Pocket Multi-Tool with a custom laser-etching. You can add your name, a (very) short message, or even a little logo. We'll also be giving you an Instructables Robot t-shirt and some other goodies.

Check out last year's winners for inspiration. Now get creative, and think small!

instructables is Closed now

They've stolen all the Creative Commons stuff posted to their site in spirit if not actual legal fact. I already unsubbed from their weekly update. Make should maybe think hard about directing more traffic their way.

I stopped going to their site when they demanded mandatory registration for even the most basic functions on the site...

At first it didn't bug me so much that they wouldn't let you view all steps on one page, I thought to myself "Wow, that's lame, but I guess it saves them bandwidth... I can't imagine how they'll recoup the costs by forcing people to give them their email addresses, but whatever", but once they stopped allowing anonymous visitors to VIEW PHOTOS it was over for me. A lot of people on instructables provide the meat of their instructions as rollover comments on their photos.. With no way to view them other than logging in, the site became useless to me.

I do have an account on the site, I just can't be arsed to log in to VIEW an article... I figure the only reason to log in is to post an article or comment. To me, instructables has been relegated to the pile of websites I will never visit again. It's a shame, too, there's occasionally cool stuff there.
