Cool cars cast creatively from cans

Guiness 004.jpg

Sandy, from Hamilton, New Zealand, has created an entire fleet of amazing cars, hot rods, and buggies, all made out of aluminum soda and beer cans.

From his website:

I have always religiously recycled but often spent time looking at the graphics on the can and looking at the shape of the bottom thinking "That could make a really cool wheel". After having an accident which left me with some time to use, I decided to put pencil to paper and try and make a racing car using the bottoms of cans as its wheels, and the graphics as the decoration for the body.

He's devoted a page to each creation, and offers photos, plans, and details on each build, including how many cans each took, and sometimes, who drank the beer ("This is my wife's favourite one. She drank the Guinness, I made the car!!")

Ummmmm..... Cast?!?

Excellent use of pre-formed aluminum, however..Awesome even.

Nice work.

On the reread, I feel a need to see how the lug nuts were done :)

Yeah, I was going for alliteration with all the Cs. I agree that "cast" is a stretch.

"Cut" or "constructed" could creatively complete your caption, keeping content correct.

From the Artist-

"I was surprised but really thrilled to see my cars put onto this website!!!

The valves are a dressmaking pin with a short length of plastic tube (stripped from some electrical hook up wire) and the wheel nuts are just small nuts. Initially i used 10BA nuts but these seemed to be a speciality item these days and cost $1 each. I found an alternative at an electronic supply shop, much cheaper and complete with bolts and washers!!

Kind regards

Sandy"

Hm! These cars are a little larger than I had imagined. Well worth clicking the link to see the rest.

Again...From the Artist:

"Due to an enormous response to this website and continual emails asking me if I will sell plans for my cars, I have decided to get my plans put in PDF format and will sell individual plans for $10US with full instructions.

I am in the process of getting this organised, and hope to be able to offer this in a week or 2.

Many thanks for your support and kind words.

Sandy
