This pizza box is making a clear play at eco-design by calling itself the Green Box, but really, it's just more sensible and convenient than a normal pizza box. All it took was a few extra perforations.

Using the pizza box for plates is what my family has always done. Never thought of it as green, just that no one wanted to do dishes...

We did this all the time in college because it was easier than using plates.
Now that I think about it, everybody did this in college.

I met the peeps who created this at the Maker Faire. They were so nice, and so eager to share their ideas. I was very impressed with their authentic desire to innovate. And there is something to be said for the breakaway connivence. When I have tried in the past to rip up a box like that, symmetry and ease go out the window.

So the box is patented. How many pizza or pizza box companies are going to think it is worth the hassle of dealing with the patent licensing to create boxes like that?

I thought this idea was stupid and non-notable until I saw the bit about the box closing properly at 1/2 size.
In my mind that's what makes this clever.
