Tin toy robot invasion at Disney

robotsrobotsrrobots.png
Recently, I spent some time with my kids in Disney World. One of the highlights of the trip was discovering the toy robot exhibit at the Japan Pavilion in Epcot. I didn't have my good camera with me, but I was able to snap a few pictures. OK, a lot of pictures. You can check out my flickr set here.

Sadly, the exhibit has left the building, perhaps.

I agree with Marc, it was a wonderful exhibit and hidden off the main path at EPCOT. Unfortunately, as of my last trip in July, the exhibit was closed at the Japan Pavillion and might no longer be there.

The exihibt was part of Turuhisa Kitahara's extensive collection of tin toys and had been on loan to EPCOT and the Japan Pavillion for several years. A quick search of MousePlanet revealed that the exhibit had opened in March 2004.

The much beloved exhibit was a favorite among those in the know and has been mentioned in several books on visiting WDW and EPCOT as a must see. I was fortunate to visit many times and eventually took my adopted children to see it. Of course, they wanted to buy the toys in the store located not far from the exhibit entrance.

With luck the exhibit is being renovated, updated, exchanged with other tin toys or expanded. Sadly, Marc's photos might be our only way to remeber this exhibit.
