Balcony? What balcony? I don't see a balcony...

We don't see many transforming-house mods around here, and its a shame. Anyone ever try making something like this? It would be perfect for places that have seasons (who needs a balcony in the winter?), or for playing tricks on your would-be Romeo. [via core77]

Interesting

Glass floor + short skirt = happy downstairs neighbor.

I think the video shows some sort of translucent covering sliding out over the part that becomes the floor.

Underwear

You should always wear underwear! Love my balcony made of stone :-)

Gah! Why do people insist on putting really annoying music on every YouTube video these days?

I wonder if there is a manual override on this? What happens if there is a storm and the things open and the power goes off?

It is a clever idea though although it's the kind of thing that would give building inspectors fits if you tried to do it yourself I imagine.

The Velux Cabrio has a similar design concept, and has been around for some time:

Scratches and foot prints on your window!

@Balcony... yes indeed. :)

@Simon- Agreed on the music. Much to my website designing friend's dismay, I have adopted the habit of surfing with sound muted. I have very sensitive hearing, and most of the cra.... sound is unnecessary for my enjoyment. It is only a button press away should I want to hear. Watching the video above without the artist's sound I feel was no loss.

Neat idea. That is what I am here to be exposed to. Even if it doesn't apply to my lifestyle/area.

(Now I tried to submit the comment...)

AND...as usual..on the first try, I get...

"Comment Submission Error

WHAT TEXT????? I am pretty sure I got the captcha right.Maybe the method?? I will enter it using only my index fingers. Maybe that will help. Hold my tounge right.Sit up straight.Think good thoughts.

Maybe this message could be changed to MAYBE indicate (or should I say MAKE it clear...) WHAT was entered wrong please?!?!?!

login probs..

I get the EXACT same thing and have been for 2 years now. I'm guessing that 1 part of the system logs us out while the other part(the one that tells us that we are safe to comment, etc.) thinks that we're still logged in. Either way tech support will claim it's cookies, etc. but nothing that you will ever do will fix it...it'll just suddenly work one day and then stop a couple weeks later.

It could be something as simple as the expiration date on their cookies but that's for them to work out, not me.

Oh, and the text they're talking about is text for a captcha that doesn't show up because it thinks we're already authenticated even though we aren't.

@ehrichweiss-

Whew! I am not alone here...I was starting to wonder...

I have also seen the times that the capcha doesnt show up, and it does show the same message. Good observation. In this case, there was a capcha shown. I have learned to look, and 'reset' the comment box before I type and send the message. Saves a LOT of retyping.

I also learned NOT to use the 'return to post' link it shows- that erases all the typing and one must start over. Using the 'back' button, then clicking 'comment anonymously' restores all the text, with a new capcha. Then it is a simple matter of lather, rinse, and repeat until it goes through.

Meanwhile, way off topic and wandering... sorry MAKE!

If you use Firefox get the Lazarus extension, it recovers text that you've entered in forms. It's AMAZING. I vote it one of the top 5 addons of the year.
