Awesome photo – I’m guessing a light on a string with a bit of spinning about happening!?
I’m going with light on a string, and spinning around, like Tom suggested.
I use an LED on a string when I do the shoots like this. The key is to keep yourself outside the ball and move around it while not moving the center of your spinning string.
Here is a link to one of my shots. Not as good as his but still fun to do.

A bit too perfect a sphere for hand spinning. I’d say it’s a pole stuck in the ground with 2 battery powered motors. One motor spins a stick like a propeller with LEDs on the ends, and the other motor rotates it around like north then east then south then west.
