The road to Maker Faire: Michael Wood

MFBA150.gifThis year, in the lead-up to and during the Faire, we wanted to gather together a little ad hoc community of makers who are presenting at the event and ask them to do some posts for us. We want you to be able to look over their shoulders to get a sense of what’s going into their preparations, and through their minds — what they’re psyched about, nervous about, what they’re excited to see at the Faire. And then, when they’re there, we hope they’ll recount some of their experiences as they’re happening. We’ve started a mailing list for them to talk to each other as well, so hopefully, something interesting will come from that crosstalk, too (which can be shared here).

The first piece of content is this charming video from Michael Wood of TinyMeat.com. Micheal is an artist, designer, and craftsman who makes handcrafted wallets and other accessories. He writes:

Tinymeat was forged out of vinyl, snark, and a dissatisfaction with the corporate lifestyle, first in the green hills of Montpelier Vermont. Seven years and 100,000 wallets later, Tiny! lives on, in the bike-friendly bacon-lovin,’ puddle-stompin’ town of Portland Oregon.

Righteous job on this video, Michael! Excited to see what else you have in store for us.

Other “Road to Maker Faire” guest authors include:

Sean Orlando: Engineering artist behind such iconic large installation pieces as the Steampunk Treehouse and the Raygun Gothic Rocketship (which will be featured at the Faire!)
Rachel Lyra Hospodar: Artist and designer behind mediumreality.com, who, at the Faire, will be working with NoiseBridge on the “Anti/Surveillance Fashion Show” on Sunday
Steve Cooley: Multimedia artist and the person behind beatseqr.com
Saul: From The Bare Tree, makers of eco-friendly clothing

Look for their posts over the coming week!
