How-To: Develop Film with Coffee and Vitamin C

Developing Film with Coffee and Vitamin C
Here at MAKE, we love both coffee and photography, but who knew that these two passions could be combined like this? Our friends at Photojojo have an excellent step-by-step tutorial on how to use instant coffee and vitamin C to process black and white negative film. Of course, there are a few other household ingredients you’ll need such as washing soda, distilled water, and dishwashing soap. You’ll also need a daylight developing tank and photographic fixer, both of which can be found at a photo shop that sells darkroom supplies. If you’re skeptical about the quality of the resulting photographs, check out the galleries at Caffenol, a blog devoted to the art of using coffee to process negatives.
