To celebrate the release of our latest publication, the Make: Ultimate Kit Guide 2012 (and its companion website), we’re giving away one of the cool kits reviewed in the issue each day during the holiday season. From Arduino and electronics kits to beer-making kits to geeky watch and clock kits to… believe it or not… FIVE free MakerBots! We’re giving away nearly $9,000 of dollars in Maker Shed merchandise!

To be eligible, here’s what you have to do:

  • Go to the current giveaway (announced each morning at 9am PST). On this page, it’ll be the top post.
  • Leave a comment in the current day’s giveaway post (comments left in the announcement post you are now reading are NOT eligible). If you are not registered for commenting, you’ll need to register or you can log in with your Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo or OpenID account.
  • At the end of each day (at 11:59pm PST), we’ll select one respondent at random and contact him/her via email (or the method by which they registered to comment). You’ll have 48 hours to respond. If you enter, make sure to check that login source (eg. your Facebook account) to see if we’ve messaged you.
  • That’s it! No purchase necessary or anything else to do. Please leave only one comment per post. You can enter as many giveaways as you like until you win. The giveaway is for US residents only.

Not to sound too much like an idiot, but I can’t seem to find the current contest page.  I click on the link above that says “current giveaway” and it takes me to a page where the newest posted item is from the day before.  So, today I was excited to try to enter the contest for the 3-D printer, but when I scrolled down I saw that it was yesterday’s post and the comment section was closed.
Can anyone help steer me in the right direction?  I checked the Blog, too, but can’t find anything recent.
    Thanks!

    1. Gareth Branwyn says:

Emily, if you check that link now (http://blog.makezine.com/tag/kitaday) today’s giveaway will be there. Each day’s giveaway ends at midnight (PST) and the new day’s giveaway is posted at 9am, so there’s a period where there’s no giveaway.

I’ll add something to the post above to clarify this.

Thanks (and sorry for the confusion)

      1. Emily Pike says:

Thanks for your help.  It might just be something wrong with my computer.  I clicked on the link you provided above and even though it is 10 a.m., the latest kit is from yesterday that was posted at 9 a.m.

        I’ll keep checking.

        1. Gareth Branwyn says:

Today, I did a lot of hand forming of wet leather, some digital painting, and some rock polishing.  This doesn’t count the finishing of some Lichtenberg figures I made in November.  I would love to win a Makerbot since there are so many things I’d do with it….

  296. Randy Crowell says:

I love MAKE but this contest is BS. Something is wrong when only 6 of 14 winners are able to claim their prize within the allowed time. Somebody is not getting the message and nobody is going to convince me that the people that entered never read their email to get the notification. Make could and should do a better job of letting the winners know they won. I think the whole thing is a cluster f^@&
